Often described as a portrait of Shirley Slade, but it is not. Nevertheless it is a stunning black & white photo which I used to make this painting. I stumbled upon a story of the role women played during WWII and I wanted to honor them, because very little is know about these courageous women. This portrait is part of a series of four paintings.
